BeaversBeavers - fun and friendship

Beavers are the youngest members of the Scouting family, aged between six and eight years. A young person can start attending Beavers in the three months before their sixth birthday and will usually move up to Cubs after their eighth birthday.

The 1st Highweek Village Beaver Scout Colony welcomes both girls and boys to its weekly meetings (Tuesdays, 6pm until 7:15 during school term-time) and other activities which include overnight sleepovers in the 1st Highweek Village Scout HQ, guided hikes around the area and visits to local amenities.

These awards include 12 activity badges for activities such as caring for an animal or demonstrated their hobby to the Colony. In addition there are 6 staged activity badges for activities that can be developed throughout your child's Scouting life; for example there are 5 stages of the Musician badge that can be attained.

If your child would be interested in taking part in the Colony's activities, please bring them to one of our meetings - directions to the HQ and contact details can be found on the 'Find Us' page. If, after a few weeks, they wish to become a full member of the Colony, they can be invested. For this they will require a uniform which can be obtained from all Scout shops (directions to the Teignbridge District HQ Scout shop can be found on the 'Uniform' page).
